guess who got married?

Dan just changed his Facebook status to Married - so, with that, I have an announcement to make:
  • 1 year after Facebook suggested I "friend" Dan
  • 7 months after he flew from Oregon to NC to see me
  • 15 years after we last spoke
  • 20 years after our first kiss, and
  • 22 years since I attended Dawn's church so that I could see Dan(ny) on a weekly basis...
Dan and I eloped on December 1, 2009. Can you believe that?
It is true! And to celebrate with all our NC family and friends in big southern style, we will be having 2 receptions in North Carolina in the fall. For Wilkes folks, a lunch reception with some fiddle playing, knee slapping fun-for-all will be held for us on Sunday September 12. For our friends on the east side of the state, we are hosting a dinner on Saturday October 16. Formal invites will follow, as soon as I design something fabulous!

Much Love, Facebook!

It has been a really good year.

vacation get-away (destination wedding)

Now that I have finished editing my January wedding photos, I had the time to post a few of my Rincon, Puerto Rico "vacation" photos. It is one of the reasons I like destination weddings so much. I work for 1-2 days, and then lay like brocolli for 3-4 days. This sunset and boat passed us by while dining outdoors with Dan, Jaimie, Josh and William. Spectacular.

Even in January, there were flowers everywhere. And we had a coconut tree in our backyard. Dan tried his best to crack one on a chunk of cinderblock. Which was funny.

There were also dozens of tiny brown lizards, on trees, in the outdoor shower, near the pool, and not so tiny green ones, like this one that found its home inside the house, behind a piece of art.

The cows in Puerto Rico were skinny and different than in NC and OR. Some were brahmas, which have enormous humps on their backs. All of the cows roamed in big fields, often with other kinds of animals. I have never seen a cow within the woods, which is probably why I like this photo so much.

Puerto Rico, friends & a wedding

strapless dress photographerI have been home from Puerto Rico for less than 12 hours, and I so wish I still had Alex, my assistant to post my photos, but I want to go through each one myself to select my favorites! Dan and I had the best time on the beach, scouting out birds and cows and photographing Gina's wedding (he is a pretty good assistant). I am so happy to be back in Corvallis, Oregon. I missed the peace and quiet, the lack of cars, Marvin and my computer. Here are a few of my favorite shots! The flower girl:

Julie & Mike's winter wedding

bride and groom, before the weddingLast Monday was a day of firsts: I photographed my first Oregon wedding & first reception held in a barn. It was also my first time being part of a Quaker wedding ceremony! barn viewMike and Julie have both worn rings since their engagement. The rings below are the family rings: during the ceremony the two children were given rings to wear as necklaces. wedding rings I took the photograph below on the front porch, as Julie's girlfriends were leaving to get Julie to the Church on time. I love the photo because of the variety of ladies shoes, how Julie's mom is looking at me, and how Grace is looking at Julie's shoes!shoesAnd of course, I have several photos of this newly married couple kissing... If you remember, they are the couple that kissed pretty much the entire engagement photo shoot! They were so sweet to each other (and to me) the day of the wedding. Here are a few people photos. Including the band, which included Dan, on mandolin and guitar. The two little ones!cute flower girlTo see all of the photos, go to my site, and click client galleries, Julie and Mike's Wedding. Also, I want to thank Krista K for being a wonderful second shooter. She was perfect and helpful - and got amazing shots! Thank you darling!

incredibly flattered; stamps

In the past week, I have received two letters with stamps created from MY PHOTOS. I am not sure why, but it is more exciting than seeing my photographs in a magazine, mostly because it is just crazy flattering. Like the invite for Mike and Julie's December wedding (upper right) where I had no idea that my hand holding image was being made into a stamp... Nina and Joon's wedding invitation envelope (lower right) from last June also had a Danielle Anthony Photo stamp, so, I grabbed the three envelopes and photographed them!

Thanks fantastic clients: You have made my day!

Emily with a dog named Flirt!Congratulations to Emily and Adam! They were married on Saturday in a beautiful ceremony held in Greensboro, NC (I will post my favorite images tres soon). SO FINALLY I can blog her bridal portraits which were taken at Duke Gardens many a month ago. Look at her beautiful dress and flowers!!! laughing
in the bambooon the bridgeHer favorite portrait is below. I edited it to look like an old photograph, with a sepia tone and slightly grainy - like old black and white film. It was beautifully framed and displayed at her wedding.

wedding photographer

NC brideTypically, I don't do local weddings. But when a beautiful SuperGirl pal is getting married at Duke Gardens and begs you to photograph her wedding, you pretty much can't say no. I couldn't anyway. So, for my dear newlyweds Carlotta and Pedro, here's a sneak peak of your wedding photos from yesterday!
