bragging, a tiny bit.

One of my photographs is about to turned into a 7 foot window display. WOW. The photograph was taken 2.5 years ago, in Raleigh, North Carolina for the furniture line Svan (sweet high chair on the right, which can be purchased at Land of Nod). It is sold by Scandinavian Child, who was one of my most favorite/best customers. The photo shoot was staged in an uber modern house (built by two architects) that featured corrugated metal walls, an asymmetrical fireplace, the most gorgeous walk in shower I have ever seen, and lots of perfect wood. I love photographing furniture. I love photographing kids. Especially when my final images are used in large and awesome ways. Yay!

product photography, a review

klecka naturals oils and spraysI am organizing my product photography to finally show some of it on my website, (because I like to do that kind of work, in the studio, especially in the winter). I went through four years of files, and found the following products. I barely remember some of them. Does that make me seem old?handmade handbagTypically I get my lights set in position, turn on the iPod speakers, have a full diet dr. pepper and start shooting. It is fun work. I just move the product until the light looks good, and shoot. The following shots were done for Charlotte Baby & Child magazine:

If something is reflective, it is more complicated, like these HIGH end audio components, which I had to shoot in a light tent.audio equipment, photograph

Toddlers, Tonkas, & Thomas the Train

trucks!Mr. C. came to the studio last weekend for his holiday(ish) portraits and was accompanied by a small cargo van of brightly colored toys. Yes! To choose from, I had books, the largest legos I've ever seen, two ride-on toys, two hundred Thomas the train toys and one large fabulous tonka truck.family portrait

You may recognize Mr.C's Mom - I have photographed them both several months ago during a Scandinavian Child lifestyle shoot. Mr C was a perfect size for the orange Svan high chair!product photography

I have taken her picture a couple of times over the years - in the studio - and during lifestyle shoots for strollers, high chairs and scooters... Well, now she is preggers and look how beautiful. And funny.his is biggersweet

Erin is such a goof. Of course a birthing ball might be more comfy...

This is the TORRO. it is incredible and cool and I got to photograph it both IN studio and on location in downtown Raleigh and Pullen Park.

the chosen images

svan rideon toyJust posting a few of the "chosen" images from my Dwell/Scandinavian Child photoshoot. This house was built for the magazine that I love to stalk, Dwell. The day of the shoot I felt almost like my dream was REALLY happening - shooting for my favorite modern (super) high end magazine. Almost. It won't be until DWELL hires me that I will break open a bottle of champagne, but, it is a step in the right direction. OK, so You may recognize these products: Svan high chairs and scooters.

I decided to start logo-ing all my images. I need to do this mostly for branding. Also, it discourages folks from taking my images without my permission (I assume people do not know it is illegal to save one of my blogged images and then print it, but it is).love this

uber modern house - product photography

Svan HighchairFriday, (my new assistant Alex and) I went to Raleigh for a photoshoot with Scandinavian Child - to shoot three products for thier new catalog. The Svan highchair, scooter and the baby bouncer. There were eight child models and a whole lot of reflective surfaces. Stuff that reflects is a photographers nightmare - (in this case, I had to be careful where I placed the strobe lights or they would literally be visible in the cabinets, the glass table or the mirror on the left wall). We shot for 4 hours in the most magnificently modern house. The kind of house you see in Dwell magazine (who I want to shoot for). kids on/with scooters

I love this image because the love and laughter shown so clearly on Brenda's face. I think her son actually licked her ear!

Residential furniture photography

I am super excited to post a few photographs from my most recent furniture photography gig for Scandinavian Child: We were able to shoot inside an AMAZING house near downtown Raleigh. This was to show off the new ANKA natural high chair. Here a just a few of my favorite photos (I LOVE how messy Baby Eli and Baby Sabrina are...)eli eats
